What a REVOLITION!
The unexpected victories in racing are so sweet, and REVOLITION provided that surreal feeling for trainer Paul Jordan and managing owner Harvey Crossman and all his friends and mates who race the horse, when he won the prestigious Group 3 Colonel Reeves Stakes at Ascot on Saturday. With all the hype about the favorite Hay List, everyone seemed to think they were only racing for second money, even jockey Brad Parnham. Second isn’t too bad mind you, in a Group 3 event at Ascot! But luckily for all owners and trainers, the horses don’t read the press. With really good speed in the lead, Revolition was able to sit just off the lead, and not be harrassed and when the leader stopped, Revolition was there ready to fire, and he did just that. Revolition (Key Business- Prospect Sky) has a great strike rate with 7 wins in only 16 starts, but he is not the first from the family that either managing owner Harvey Crossman has had, or trainer Paul Jordan. They previously raced the full brother Volition who won $214, 215, and Paul has a good record with Key Business stock generally including good colts Hot Shot Brother ($200,540), and Fire From Ice ($109,775). Revolition was catalogued in the 2007 Magic Millions sale (like most of the Rangeview stock), so was there for anybody to pick up. For Harvey and Paul who only paid $25,000 for him he is more than a bargain, he is proof that a mare can produce her best progeny even at age 20, and you don’t have to have an unlimited cheque book to buy a good horse. Harvey, Paul , Brad and friends enjoy the victory and let it last for you, the stories can get bigger and better in the owners and winners bar!
