Ascot Track Record Set – but No Chocolates!
It sure is tough when you lead and beat a track record, but second place is your reward. Rum and colas were certainly needed last Saturday on a hot and humid opening day at Ascot. Three year old filly -”For Your Eyes Only” led the field in the Bundaberg Rum and Cola Handicap only to be gobbled up in the last part of the race beaten a length. The winner, four year old gelding Moonlight Drive now has an 1100 metre track record to his name taking that honour from Vain Raider. His time in winning on Saturday, a super fast 1.02.56.
For Your Eyes Only ran 1.02.73 where the track record was previously 1.02.87. Game Park in running third also clipped time off the record at 1.02.77. Hot work for all no doubt, hopefully the sponsors quickly rescued all the connections! PS- We’re still waiting for dam Communique, to foal her Natural Blitz half brother or sister.
