Rangeview graduate DELTA GEE wins again, and looking to Melbourne

in Uncategorized / by admin
August 16, 2010

Her breeding wouldn’t automatically have you think she is a Rangeview sale graduate, but DELTA GEE by Street Cry out of Valiant Wave is just that! She has now won $197,955 in prizemoney and a review of her wins show the Listed Natasha Stakes over 2200m. DELTA GEE now a five year old is relatively lightly raced with 9 cheques from her fourteen starts and where one of the placings include a gutsy effort to determinedly push on to run second in the Group 3 Matron Stakes over 1600m at Flemington. That previous trip to Melbourne should be hugely beneficial for the current plans to set DELTA GEE for the prestigious $500,000 Myer Classic (1600m) on Oct 30 and the $300,000 Matriach Stakes (2000m) on November 6. To have a horse racing over the fabulous Melbourne Cup Carnival would be awesome so we wish Michael Grant and all the connections every bit of good luck.

Key Business son- a gallant second in Listed Belmont Newmarket

in Uncategorized / by admin
August 8, 2010
SHOCK VALUE was so brave in running second yesterday in the listed Belmont Newmarket Stakes, having “sat outside” of leader FOR YOUR EYES ONLY for most of the race, and, just when victory was in his grasp, Casper Cowboy who had a nice run along the fence finally caught him near the winning post to win by a neck. Weight took it’s toll on brave FOR YOUR EYES ONLY who was forced to lead with no other pacemaker appearing. It was an exciting race with the result showing that SHOCK VALUE certainly can “mix it” at this level. Just for information the third Rangeview graduate in the race was SPITFIRE ACE who also ran well first up. Exciting times loom ahead. Race Record to Amazing Filly

in Uncategorized / by admin
August 1, 2010

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY showed just how special she is when she won the Listed Beaufine Stakes at Belmont on 24 July 2010 in race record time. The race record was previously held by Coal Pak since 1988 and and the track record held by Ma Ma Machine, who FOR YOUR EYES ONLY defeated on Saturday running a stunning 56.61 and on a track that all acknowledge is not in the best condition. Even though FOR YOUR EYES ONLY sat off them in running, it still takes a very classy horse, but more so an exceptional 3 year old filly to still be able to run over the top winning by one and half lengths. Her impressive statistics are now 10 wins and 4 places, with 3 Listed wins and a huge $586,925 in prizemoney- all won in WA. Trainer Paul Jordan, jockey Troy Turner and managing owner Harvey Crossman all do a fantastic job managing this filly. She has won from 1000m through to 1800m when she won the listed Ascot Guinneas.

It is believed she will now head to the Belmont Newmarket this coming weekend, being another Listed race and over 1200m. There just might be three Rangeview graduates in that race, so you will all have to keep a close “eye” on that field when it comes out.

SO SECRET parading Sunday 25 July at Belmont Sales Complex

in Uncategorized / by admin
July 19, 2010

We think he is looking magnificent, so its a good time to show off SO SECRET at Sunday’s Magic Millions Winter Sale. The sale starts at 11am and a number of stallions will be paraded before that time. This is always a great way to view a stallion, where you don’t have to travel too far and can see him walk around in the winners’ enclosure area, and, then if you like what you see, come around and have a closer inspection and chat with us. Jody and I are really proud of him and the great book of mares he received last year, and we’d love to catch up with you there at Belmont on Sunday.

SO SECRET gets the Glamour Girls

in Uncategorized / by admin
June 9, 2010

2010 is set to be a landmark year for Rangeview Stud, with the arrival of the first crop of foals for our new resident Stallion SO SECRET.
From his first crop of foals there will be half relations to:
· Dual Stakes Winner and Magic Millions winner FOR YOUR EYES ONLY;
· Group 3 Summer Carnival Winner REVOLITION;
· Recent Dual Stakes Winner in Qld POOR JUDGE;
· Champion Fillies Winner HI ON LOVE;
· Matchmaker Stakes Winner DANECAY; and
· Multiple Stakes Winner (incl Hannans Hcp) KEYTON GRACE

Stakes winning mares served by So Secret included IFESTIO (Belmont Oaks),and POINT OF NO RETURN (Burgess Queen Stakes), along with other quality city winners Scottish Storm (Magic Millions), Starsinmyvains (Sheila Gwynne Stakes), Tycoon Cut, Raring To Roar, and dual Stakes Placed Rosey View.
From this predominantly young herd of mares, So Secret will produce first foals from half sisters to Marasco, Grand Nirvana, Paris Petard, Lady Go Bello, Capablanca (Singapore Champion), recent super 2yo winner Sweet Serenity, and from the daughters of Multiple Stakes winner producing Matriarchs Dance Hi and Prospect Sky.

SO SECRET is West Australia’s new Colonial bred Speed Danehill line Stallion.
He won 5 races from 1000m to 1200m, including victory at Group 3 level, and was several times placed at Open Class Listed level.
· He is the only Son of Danetime at Stud in Australia to win in Open Company.
· He is the only Son of Danetime at Stud in WA, to win as a 3yo,and then race on to also win at 4.
· So Secret is the direct descendant of great West Australian Sires Danetime, Bletchley Park and Haulpak

Danetime rates as one of WA’s most elite Stallions, producing Group 1 winner Megatic, and Karrakatta Plate winner Roman Time amongst many top class performers.
Bletchley Park’s success continues to grow. Apart from producing Group 1 winners Hot Jules and Modem, he has Sired 26 Stakes winners, and now is the Broodmare Sire of 6 Stakes winners including top class five time Stakes winner Grand Nirvana.
The Maternal Sire presence of Haulpak, has been well represented in WA, with our Rangeview Stud stalwart Key Business, and leading WA Juvenile Sire Oratorio both carrying his influence.

His dam is the former pure speed filly, Multiple Stakes winner and three time Stakes winner producer Most Secret (by Bletchley Park),who apart from Group 3 Winner So Secret, can boast Group 1 Railway Stakes Winner Covertly.

Our team here at Rangeview keenly await the arrival of the first crop of foals of this eye-catching young Stallion. His speed, physical presence and kind temperament are sure to be emulated as it has been already throughout his locally proven ancestry.
Please feel free to inspect at the stud, or come and see us at the July General Bloodstock Sale, where he will be paraded, prior to the upcoming breeding season. Look forward to seeing you.

Rangeview relation chasing Group 2 win

in Uncategorized / by admin
April 30, 2010

Now there’s not many times that we would suggest you go looking at Eagle Farm race fields to follow the progeny of Rangeview mares, but— this weekend is different!

A few years ago we purchased Thunder Gulch mare Outward Display in foal to Galileo. She had a very nice pedigree with the grandam Madayao by Vain and great grandam by Todman. Madayao was a 2 yr old Sydney winner and ran and was placed in most of Sydney’ listed and better quality 2 yr old races. More amazing was that she had produced eleven foals with 8 to race and ALL were winners including black type winners. Outward Display herself won 5 races from 1200-1600m.

Outward Display then foaled for us a filly from the Galileo mating which we sold at the 2009 Magic Millions Sale and then this year she had a Natural Blitz filly sold at the sales.

The story we are telling you is that the first foal from Outward Display is named Poor Judge (Royal Academy), and he has had a great year of racing. He has won 9 races including his last 3 starts $253,000 in prizemoney, and two stakes wins this year over 1200m and 1300m.

On Saturday 1st May – race 6 – Eagle Farm -1.25pm (WST) — Poor Judge steps out into the Group 2 Victory Stakes over 1200m. He’s drawn barrier 1 with Cliff Munce on board and currently sits pretty close to favouritism for the race. We’ll be barracking loud and clear.

This just shows that pedigrees and values change in an instant almost. When we sold the two fillies, Poor Judge was a race winner on our catalogue page with 3 wins, but now that page is so much more impressive with him having 9 wins including black type with his current 2 stakes wins. Tomorrow can hopefully add some form of Group status to this page.

Outward Display is in foal to our freshman stallion SO SECRET and this foal is now very excitedly awaited.

SO SECRET – a Matchmaker Selection

in Uncategorized / by admin
April 30, 2010

The Fillies and Mares Listed Matchmaker Classic was run and won last week at Ascot. There were 21 stallions that were made available for selection by the first five placegetters including our stallion SO SECRET who enters his second year at stud this coming season. We were thrilled when the very promising 3yr old filly Peach Tree who was only beaten a neck after trying to lead all the way, chose SO SECRET from the available stallions.
Peach Tree is by Bel Esprit out of the Naturalism mare Georgia also a race-winning mare in the Eastern States. Peach Tree has had 9 starts for 2 wins and 6 placings, so her future is very bright and it gives SO SECRET another quality booking for the future, which we’re really happy about. (Other selections – Winner Scenic Fair chose Bearcat, Thundelarra 3rd chose Viscount, Jeverre 4th chose Blackfriars and Mocassin Bend 5th chose Saxon).

SO SECRET was mated to excellent producing mares in his first season including Graceton the dam of Shock Value, Prospect Sky the dam of Revolition and Outward Display the subject of our news article above.
SO SECRET’s fee this year will again be $4,400.

Shocky and other news for the weekend’s racing

in Uncategorized / by admin
April 30, 2010

After a run of knocks and blocks in races, it was really good to get that “monkey” off our backs and see Shock Value being led to the winners’ circle 3 weeks ago. We step out again on Saturday at Belmont’s season opener. The race will be a bit strange for us as we have always supported our stallions’ progeny when they are running, especially the Key Business stakes winner Keytomoney. But this Saturday we are in the same race! Keytomoney is also nominated for the prestigious $100,000 Northam Sprint on Sunday so we may not have a conflict at all. Here’s hoping!

Also going around on Sunday in the Northam Sprint is one of our other stakes winners in Revolition, so we are sure Paul Jordan and Harvey Crossman won’t mind a few scratchings!

That old cliche “time will tell”.

Some more Black Type

in Uncategorized / by admin
March 24, 2010

Gee didn’t she deserve another black type win? That’s FOR YOU EYES ONLY who we’re talking about. With a listed race win at 2 years in the Gimcrack Stakes, we have watched FOR YOUR EYES ONLY be a little unlucky in these races at 3 years. A third in the prestigious Group 3 Champion Fillies Stakes at her previous start, and an unlucky half length fourth in the Group 2 WA Guineas late last year had everyone wondering if and when the luck would change. Well it did change and it was a marvellous win by the filly last Saturday in the Listed Ascot 1000 Guineas. Harvey Crossman from Lima Syndicate, fellow owners, trainer Paul Jordan and jockey Troy Turner have had such a wonderful time racing this Rangeview graduate. Her latest win takes her stats to 15 starts 9 wins, 2 seconds and 1 third for prizemoney of $486,475. FOR YOUR EYES ONLY who has won three of her races over 1000m added another dimension last Saturday winning over 1800m. Will she get the Oaks trip? You’d like to think so!

Our other black type contestant SHOCK VALUE nearly made it two out of two for black type winners for the day. Unfortunately though, not much went right in his run in the Listed WATC Stakes won by the Dean White trained London who was first up. Despite the problems in the barriers and in running, Shocky did fantastically well to come from last on the turn, be steadied in the straight and then thunder home to be only 3/4 of a length from the winner and in third place.

The “girls” do it for Key Business

in Uncategorized / by admin
March 15, 2010

If you have a Key Business filly or mare, you should be pretty pleased with yourself, and with his results that just keep on coming. In the past five or six weeks a number of Key Business fillies and mares are showing why he is a great sire of not just colts but also fillies. The very latest winner is 4 yr old mare KEY MISS (Key Business-Lady Marj) who has won twice at Ascot in the last 6 weeks and over 1600m. The win on Saturday being very meritorious in beating quality horses God Has Spoken and Impressive Jeuney. CONAKEY (Key Business-Conamore) has recently won over 1200m and 1400m at Ascot with her last win defeating Euclassy Thing. Euclassy Thing has “franked” that win by coming out on Saturday at Ascot defeating a good field over 1500m. Guess Girl (Key Business-Western Mystique) showed her first win (see 22nd Feb news) was no fluke and then came out to win her second start in a race. Heavenly Dance (Key Business-Heavenly Moon) had a win and a second in consecutive starts. However, the “boys” results not to be totally outdone show that gelding Key Dynasty (Key Business-Pamela Diane) won a few weeks ago and Shock Value (Key Business-Graceton) ran a great first up second at Ascot just over a week ago and in very fast time.
