SO SECRET was “playing” a tribute to “oldies but goodies” on the weekend! Two fantastic 8 yr olds sound and happy, and Rangeview graduates, AND still winning city and big feature races. Pretty good comment on the upbringing and temperaments etc. GALAH also “chimed” in!
It started on Saturday – TRANSGRESSOR an 8yr old by SO SECRET from Kabushka won the last race at Ascot on 18 January. (above photo)
Leading all the way and defying also them all the way TRANSGRESSOR ran 58.59 for the 1000m, coming home the last 600m in 34.59 winning by almost a length.
Trained by Nikki Davies who says she absolutely loves this horse, he is obviously thriving with her and running as good as any horse around. TRANSGRESSOR also won his last start on a hot 5th December again with jockey Chris Graham on board.
A happy and sound horse, TRANSGRESSOR is the last foal of his dam who also produced PURIST (5 wins 9 places $125k) another Rangeview graduate
The win on Saturday— took TRANSGRESSOR’s tally to 51 starts 7 wins 15 places and$172,210.
Our other big SO SECRET triumph on the weekend was in the time honoured $100,000 MUNGRUP SPRINT.
Trainer Jo Leeson travels far and wide with her horses, be it Geraldton or Albany and last weekend was Albany.
Her big winner in the BIG race 8 yr old SO SECRET gelding BARAKI BEATS. (Above photo) What a marvel he has been now with 10 wins and 21 places and $400,225 stakemoney.
Another leading all the way and really not challenged. Great riding by Tasha Faithfull to rate the horse so well and win by more than a length in such big regional feature sprint!
Out of super mare DANCE HI, BARAKI BEATS is a half brother to BARAKEY 13 wins $864,700 G1 Winterbottom Stakes: plus 2 Grp 3 races and two further listed races: IFESTIO – Belmont Oaks and dam of MAGNIFISIO winner of G1 Winterbottom Stakes, Lee Steere Stakes G 2 and many listed races: HI ON LOVE – Champion Fillies Stakes G3.
Take a look at the 2020 Magic Millions Catalogue for the relations to BARAKI BEATS!
Congratulations Jo and Tasha.
We now go back to Race 1 at Albany where 3 yr old GALAH gelding ARTIE’S COMET was having his first start for trainer Graham Yuill.
This GALAH 3 yr old is the second foal out of Graham’s mare Madam Jewel.
ARTIE’S COMET raced handy but a bit green throughout and early in the straight, it seemed ARTIE’S COMER wouldn’t get to the leader, but with great fighting qualities for a first starter ARTIE’S COMET really pushed through on the line beating stablemate Rubychino.
Andrew Castle rode ARTIE’S COMET.
Congratulations Graham and Andrew.
