When champion GALAH arrived here to commence his stud career at Rangeview, we were proud to bring to Western Australia a stallion that ticked all the boxes. This was the colt that was precocious enough to win 2nd up at 2 years; who won three straight in Melbourne and Sydney in 26 days; twice at stakes level in the Gothic Stakes and Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes, finishing his three-year-old campaign with a very close 3rd in the Group 2 Sandown Guineas. GALAH’s finest victory came from a seemingly impossible position to storm home and take out the Group 2 QTC Cup by a nose. Take a look at our Gallery page for his first foals- who do look “stamped” by their sire. We are so pleased at the way they have grown -good strong sturdy bone as well as being very athletic.
The excitement of great WA sprinter SO SECRET whose first foals arrived in 2010 was phenomenally boosted by the Karrakatta Plate win of his second crop son HOBART JONES (out of Tribulot). This is the most prestigious race for two year olds in Western Australia. Even more rewarding is that HOBART JONES was bred by and is part owned by Rangeview Stud. The $500,000 Karrakatta Plate has always been known as the race that makes a stallion and SO SECRET boasts a Karrakatta Plate winner. SO SECRET’s page now also boasts a number of good quality City winners, so do take a look at the list.
You will still see mentioned, progeny of sprinter Henny Hughes USA (Hennessey/Meadow Flyer) regarded as “The Fastest Horse in the World” in 2006 who was purchased by Rangeview to stand in WA and produced two crops before a prestigious stud in Japan purchased this outstanding stallion. Henny Hughes by renowned speed source Hennessy, a proven Northern Dancer outcross, arrived as the most accomplished sprinter to ever stand in WA.
Henny Hughes finished the USA 2012 season as the Leading Sire of 2 year old Stakes Winners with 6 stakeswinners and 10 other stakes placegetters, so we will still do “some bragging” with his WA born progeny!
Our other stallion stalwart and much loved Key Business has been retired for a couple of years now, and he is enjoying his time watching all the “goings on” around the new property. We hope his broodmare daughters will do us and the industry proud.
While our band of broodmares form the heart of our stud and consistently produce top class yearlings for sale, we also offer comprehensive services of breeding advice, foaling down, yearling preparation, van serving and racehorse agistment all set on our 340 acres.
Jody Gray through JODY’s WORKSHOP also provides the much sought-after services of monogrammed and colour co-ordinated race day halters and tie-ups, foal rugs, foal halters, mare foaling alarm halters, giftware such as catalogue covers and the much keenly desired and admired racebook covers etc. The photos on Jody’s webpage are quite special, and show, you are only limited by your imagination!
